Evo software update saga

Yesterday, Sprint began pushing a new software update to Evo 4G users. While not a poorly-announced, but totally awesome, update to Android 2.2, the maintenance update was to include the following features:
* Improvements to Wi-Fi performance
* Exchange Active Sync improvements, including fix to issues with new account setup, PIN policy usage and Exchange Calendar 2010 Sync
* Addresses Facebook sync issue which can improve battery performance

This according to an admin post on the Sprint forums (http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/35802).

I can't attest to any of the above features yet as I don't have any Wi-Fi access at the office, I don't use Exchange, and I don't use Facebook sync. I can report that my system did successfully update from version 1.32.651.1 to 1.47.651.1 and it didn't brick.

At first, two widgets (Gmail Unread Count by Alexander Blom and the stock Android calendar widget) appeared as gray boxes that said something like "Unable to load gadget". Also, both the camera and camcorder failed to launch. The loading screen for each would flash on the screen for an instant before closing.

Both of these issues have been resolved though. Removing and re-adding the two widgets fixed the first issue. I'm less certain as to what fixed the second issue. I read on some forum that somehow Fring was interfering with the camera/camcorder so I disabled it from running automatically and now both the camera and camcorder work.

Finally, one unexpected, but appreciated change: the "grounding" issue with the touch screen seems to have disappeared completely. For example, before the update, I had some difficulty opening the notifications bar when the phone was laying flat on a table. Now, no such difficulties exist. I was skeptical when I read that this issue could be solved with a software fix, but it appears to be so.

No FixPix Make Andrew Mad!

I've been waiting for eBoy's FixPix iPhone game to drop for some time now.
It finally released and I rushed to the App Store like a jubilant child only to find:

No!  I will never update!

some quotes

from Bored To Death -- Ted Danson's character, George Christopher:
 I'm in your movie and you're in mine.  Two different films, really.  We don't know each other.  We just make a guess of knowing each other.
 from Party Down -- Steve Guttenberg:
Making art is an act of courage.
